How the age calculator works
The calculator counts the number of full years between your date of birth and the date you choose (today by default). It then counts the full months left over, and finally the remaining days. That is the same way age is counted in everyday life: you turn a year older on your birthday, not before.
Worked example
Someone born on 15 March 1995, checked on 3 November 2026, is 31 years, 7 months and 19 days old. In total that is 11,556 days, which is a little over 1,650 weeks.
What you get in the result
- Exact age in years, months and days.
- Total months, weeks, days and hours lived, which is handy for forms, milestones and curiosity.
- Next birthday countdown with the weekday it falls on.
Leap-year birthdays
If you were born on 29 February, your birthday only exists in leap years. In other years this tool counts 1 March as the birthday, which is the rule used in many countries. Local laws can differ for official purposes, so check the rules if the exact day matters.
Useful ways to use it
- Check whether a child meets a school or sports age cut-off date.
- Work out your age on a past or future date by changing the second date field.
- Find out how many days old you will be on a special day.
